This week we have been learning about grouping and sharing in maths, today we took part in a fun activity of Minecraft maths! The naughty sheep needed to be shared equally between the fields!
This week, the children have been diving into the world of shapes, focusing on those with four sides. Through hands-on activities, they practised identifying, making, and transforming shapes. A shape hunt added an element of adventure, as they explored their environment to find squares and rectangles in everyday objects.
This week in maths we have been thinking about the number pairs which make 5, we have looked at recording using number sentences and have started to learn how to write the numerals to 5.
This week we have been learning about one more and one less than a number to 5. We are enjoying starting our maths lessons with a story. We have enjoyed The Very Hungry Caterpillar, 5 currant buns and Handa's Surprise. The children help secure their learning by repeating stem sentences such "1 more than 2 is 3" or "1 less than 5 is 4"
In Maths this week, we have been on an exciting journey with numbers to 5! We’ve been developing our skills to find , subitise , and represent these numbers.
This week we have been learning about shapes, circles and triangles....On Wednesday we went on a shape hunt around the school and the outside area. We were fascinated to find so many circles but found triangles much trickier to find!
This week in maths we have been looking at one more and one less than numbers to 5. We have used stem sentences to help us remember the learning and played lots of games using subitising to calculate one more or less than a number.
