 We have been doing some amazing writing in class this week and not only using single sounds but some children are even writing words using the digraphs and trigraphs we have learnt. Fantastic job! 

We have been working super hard on trying to learn our tricky words and reading words with digraphs in. The children have been playing games and have been writing tricky words in our Drawing club sessions.   

 

 This week we have learnt the last few single sounds before we start learning digraphs. We have learnt y, z, zz and qu. We have played bingo, matching games and sound hunts to help us learn these last few sounds. We have been learning the letter formation, all these sounds are in the Let's fall family. Some children have even been writing some short 3 letter words.

  This week in phonics, the children had a fantastic time learning ‘tricky words’ — words that don’t follow typical phonics rules. The children loved searching for the hidden word stickers and practising them as they found each one. We also made ‘tricky word watches’ that they could wear to reinforce their reading throughout the day, and played tricky word games. 

This week we have learnt three new tricky words, his, has and the. The sounds we have learnt are h, b f and l. We have played lots of games to help us learn these new sounds. We have talked about which graphemes look the same like b and d and and how to try and remember them. We are beginning to make small words with these sounds and in our reading books are reading longer words with 4 letters.

 This week in phonics we have moved onto to learning some new sounds - ck, e u and h and lots of tricky words! We enjoyed playing bingo to help us learn the new sounds. We are also working really hard on our letter formation. 

 This week we have been singing our new Song of Sounds every day. We have learnt the sounds i, n, m and d. We have played lots of games to help us try and remember these sounds and we have even started writing some of these sounds. We are learning to write letters in families. This week and next week we are learning all about the start at the top family - which are i, l t, u j and y letters.

This week we have started learning our sounds and we have been singing along to the Song of Sounds each morning and learning the actions.  We have learnt the phonemes s, a, t and p. We have loved playing games to reinforce these sounds, we have looked for them in the environment and had a go at writing them on the interactive whiteboard.
