Week 7 - World Space Week: Creating Our Own Planets! 🌌🚀


This week, we celebrated World Space Week by creating our own planets! Each year group was given a colour of the rainbow to design a unique planet, and EYFS had the colour red. The children explored shades of red by mixing paints and creating beautiful new tints and shades, from bright cherry reds to deep, dark reds. They used paint, markers, and collaging materials to decorate their planets with different textures and patterns. Once finished, all the planets will form a vibrant rainbow mural along the staircase from the Phiz Lab to the EYFS area, bringing our space creations to life in the school!  🌈🪐

Contrasting countries Japan and China

 This week we have been learning about China in preparation for celebrating Chinese New Year next week. We have looked at famous landmarks in the UK and China, talked about the weather, food, money and animals. The children were so good at spotting things that are the same as our country and things that are very different!  We had a visit from Hannah's mum who talked to us about Japan, it was lovely to hear about another contrasting countries to the UK, we learnt how many things are the same in Japan and a few traditions which are different to ours.

 Week 6 - Painting  This week we learnt how to use paint and brushes. We looked at how we can we transform the surfaces around us by using colour and pattern. While we were painting we talked about the texture and shape of each object, what kinds of tool might we use to paint with and what the colours look like and the marks might we make.
