This week we joined in with the VE Day celebration. We made decorations, threaded some bracelets with red, white and blue beads and enjoyed eating a scone outside while listening to music from 1945.
This week we have been learning about China in preparation for celebrating Chinese New Year next week. We have looked at famous landmarks in the UK and China, talked about the weather, food, money and animals. The children were so good at spotting things that are the same as our country and things that are very different! We had a visit from Hannah's mum who talked to us about Japan, it was lovely to hear about another contrasting countries to the UK, we learnt how many things are the same in Japan and a few traditions which are different to ours.
This week, EYFS brought the fun and excitement of the Isle of Wight Festival to our setting with our very own mini festival! The children had a fantastic time designing their own T-shirts and colourful wristbands, which they wore proudly throughout the day. We made musical instruments using recycled materials and had the chance to perform on our stage — complete with singing, dancing, and lots of smiles! Our little festival-goers dressed up in fabulous outfits, made festival headbands, and even built their own tents using poles, sticks, and pegs. It was a magical day filled with music, creativity, and imagination.
We were so lucky to have a special visit from Pets at Home this week! They kindly brought along two lovely guinea pigs for us to meet, and the children were absolutely thrilled. We learned how to carefully and gently handle the animals, showing kindness and care throughout. The children asked some really thoughtful questions and showed great curiosity about how to look after pets properly. It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience that sparked lots of excitement and conversation in our classroom!
