Morning work

The children have continued to start each day with whiteboard writing, using their growing phonics knowledge to write captions and sentences. 

It has been so lovely to see the confidence with which they are sounding out words and putting their ideas into short, meaningful sentences. The children are showing great focus and enthusiasm.

Our first week in Reception

This week we have had so much fun exploring our new environment. We have made dinner in 'Tiny Town' and looked at books in 'Story Kingdom'  We learnt the names of the areas in the classroom and were excited to hear about Dojos - our reward system for collecting points.  We met Croc and played sound sound talk games and have joined in with maths rhymes and singing using our class rhyme bag. Mrs Yardley popped by to say hello and read us a story.  The dinner hall was very exciting, we met the dinner ladies and enjoyed eating and talking with our friends. At lunchtime we played in Wonderland on the big field!  We look forward to Monday when all the children will be in together.

Week 3 phonics S, A, T, P

This week we have started learning our sounds and we have been singing along to the Song of Sounds each morning and learning the actions.  We have learnt the phonemes s, a, t and p. We have loved playing games to reinforce these sounds, we have looked for them in the environment and had a go at writing them on the interactive whiteboard.
